Miquelon Provincial Park Hike

It was another short-sleeve shirt day in the last week of summer, a perfect day for a hike. Twelve people came out to Miquelon Provincial Park to walk some favourite trails.

Low water

At one of our stops we spotted a cute little baby snake … but when I looked at my photos later, I discovered I was standing pretty much over a rather long mama snake.

Thanks to Irene for scouting and leading the hike and to Alberta Parks for maintaining this great park. You can find more photos on Flickr.

South Saunders Lake hike

Nine people came out to hike the 8+ kilometer hike along South Saunders Lake.

At the outset we were greeted by a herd of curious cattle. In the distance we saw an eagle circling. It was being chased by crows.

Looking down, we nearly stepped on a couple of “very nice mice with pretty ears and faces” as the rhyme says.

At the end of the hike, we enjoyed more of Sherry’s apples, this time in the form of an apple cake.

Thanks to everyone who came out to hike, to trail maintenance for their outstanding work on maintaining this trail, and to the landowners for their continuing permission. You can find more photos on Flickr.
