On a Sunday morning, eight people drove through the densest fog in recent memory to attend a hike along Pipestone Creek. The weather was cool and damp at the start.
Eventually the fog cleared to give us blue skies and a perfect day for walking on the trail.
The morning dew called our attention to the spider webs engulfing small trees.
Does anyone know what this fungus is? We found it only on bushes that were next to the creek.
Thanks to Lee for scouting the hike and to Trail Maintenance for clearing the trail. Thanks also to the landowners for their continued permission to enjoy these trails. You can see all the pictures on Flickr.
That looks a lot like the slime mold Brefeldia maxima to me…
