Planning Schedule (November 2026 to April 2027)

The 2026 summer season hikes will start at the end of April. We typically have a hike committee meeting in the spring, but due to the tremendous response from our members we were able to quickly fill out the schedule without one.

Below is a tentative winter 2026-2027 hike, if you would like to become a hike leader please let Lee know at hikes@waskahegantrail.ca and we can arrange for you to co-lead a hike with one of our more experienced leaders (Updated 2026-04-05):

Additional Notes:

  • Date/Time Changes –
    • the April 25th hike is the first of the summer schedule, where we hike every week, meeting at the trailhead at 9:45am with a 10:00 hike start
    • the May 9th hike has a 10:30 start as many of us plan on attending the Mother’s Day breakfast at the Spilstead Community Hall, then leave for the hike from hall
    • in November we will be starting the winter schedule, during the winter we hike every other week
  • Trail Maintenance –
    • we are targeting trail maintenance for Wednesdays starting mid-May, based upon 3 weeks of maintenance with 1 week off to have flexibility due to unpredictable weather
      • in early May & late October will be garage days to prep for & cleanup after the maintenance season
      • the April 4th to June 20th hikes had sufficient maintenance from the 2026 season
    • where feasible we’ll be doubling up on maintenance for a few sections that are close by & relatively short
    • a few hike will largely be on public trails where maintenance isn’t required
