For Sunday's Hike at North Miquelon (Cooking Lake - Ministik/Miquelon area) the weather forecast for the area looks daunting - a) 100% chance of rain & 12 hours of rain (87% during the hours we'd be hiking), with almost 40mm accumulation (a typical May gets 44mm for the month) b) 40km/hr winds with gusts to 70km/hr c) a high of 10° with a windchill/feel like of 0° (8° & -1° during the hiking hours) As a precaution for everyone's safety we'll be canceling the hike. North Miquelon – Spilstead Access (A87) to A86

May 31 @ 9:45 am – 3:00 pm MDT

This is a hike in the Miquelon & Ministic area that is great for bird watching. The trail goes the Currie pasture, past the Sanctuary Estates subdivision and the Marsh Mitchell cabin.

We’ll meet at the trail head beside “A87” (Spilstead Access), ~0.2km south of the corner of Township Road 502/Range Road 210, at 9:45 a.m.. The hike will leave from ‘A87’ at 10:00. The pictures from September 7th, 2025.
