Middle Battle River (A62 to A61)
August 23, 2020 @ 9:45 am - 3:00 pm MDT
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 status and will gradually restart our hikes, with some obvious protocol changes listed at the bottom.
This week’s hike, some 10 km round trip, is along forest paths and across open fields with views of the glorious Battle River Valley. This huge valley was created in a matter of days towards the end of the last ice age, when an ice-bound lake covering the entire Edmonton area suddenly broke free. Bring lunch, water, medium-weight boots or good walking shoes, sun block and insect repellent, and you’ll be prepared for a wonderful day in nature.
Starting from the Duhamel Campground (‘Ross flats campground’ at Range Road 212C just off Highway 21) at about 10 a.m. and going to Trautman Crossing/Fidler’s Monument. The pictures from September 1st, 2019.
