East Battle River (Duhamel) to Rest & Be Thankful Hill
October 24, 2021 @ 9:45 am – 3:00 pm MDT
In most years this is our first out of town hike of the season & a glorious way to start spring … while it had been scheduled for the first Sunday in May for 2020 & 2021, when COVID-19 hit us both were canceled. We have it on the schedule for the last Sunday in April 2022 but weather permitting, we might as well get in another out of town hike this season.
The hike follows the Battle River east towards Stoney Creek and Camrose. It starts by following the river, low in the valley across open grassland, but eventually winds its way up out of the valley, stepping over a field of crocuses, then into woods and gulleys, and ending at the top of “Rest & Be Thankful” hill. There we stop to eat our lunches, thankful for the spectacular views. The pictures from October 25th, 2020
We’ll meet at the trail head Duhamel (Ross Flats) Campground (at Range Road 212C just off Highway 21 & the campground is no longer in operation). The hike will leave from ‘A62’ at 10:00.
