Ministik Bird Sanctuary – A88 to Fire Tower – Canceled due to air quality

Hi everyone,

I am trying to reach as many people as possible who may be planning on going on the hike on Sunday, May 21st.

I am cancelling tomorrow’s hike after listening to the news tonight.

The air quality is forecast to be 10+and the City cancelled the openings of the outdoor pools and Fort Edmonton Park fur to the air quality. Public health is recommending people stay inside or if they have to go out, to wear an N95 mask.

Given all this, we going to err on the side of caution and cancel the hike.

My apologies to all who were planning on coming.

A wonderful hike following a route that is a combination of old road & trails past William’s Lake towards the UofA’s Ministik Field Station and on to an old Fire Tower.

We’ll meet at the trail head by the entrance to UofA Ministik Station (A88) on Township Road 510 (1 km west of Range Road 210) at 9:45 a.m.. The hike will leave from ‘A88’ at 10:00. The pictures from October 17th, 2021.
