Hike: Saunders Lake

August 21, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm MDT

This week’s hike, only a 25 minute drive from our Edmonton meetup spot, starts at the north end of Saunders Lake, which lies east of Nisku and Leduc. The hike itself, about nine km long, follows the north shore of the lake, in a southeast direction. Much of the terrain is open, allowing welcome breeze that helps keep mosquitoes at bay. It’s a marvelous escape into nature given how close it is to Edmonton. Items to bring include a a good hat to protect from the sun, water and lunch, insect repellent just in case, and perhaps a camera or binoculars. Expect to see a lot of waterfowl and to enjoy good company.

If you are new to WTA hikes, then you should visit this webpage for essential information. For further information specific to this hike, refer to The Waskahegan Trail Guide Book, pages 25–26, or contact the Hike Leader, Stella C., at 780-488-9515.
