DESCRIPTION:Our annual general meeting takes place in Edmonton on Saturday\, April 18. The meeting will be at St. Thomas Anglican Church\, 4 Raven Drive\, in Sherwood Park.  Doors will open at 1:15. \n\n\n\nThe meeting will begin at 2 p.m. sharp with a presentation by Geoff Holroyd\, Chair of the Beaver Hills Bird Observatory. \n\n\n\nBusiness and elections will follow at 3 p.m. \n\n\n\nCoffee and tea will be served. Other treats will be welcome. \n\n\n\nRSVP is requested \n\n\n\nIf you register with your email\, we will send you the reports package a few days before the meeting so that you have time to review them. DESCRIPTION:Hike leaders and any members who are interested in hike schedule or trail maintenance planning are getting together for a ZOOM meeting to develop the 2024 Spring-Summer (early May to early November) weekly hike schedule and associated train maintenance schedule. \n\n\n\n\nJoin Meeting\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAlready Scheduled\n\n\n\nFor April 2024 to March 2025 there will be ~40 hikes. The focus of the Hike Committee Meeting being mid-April to the end of October and the coordination of trail maintenance. That puts us at 27 hikes and we have already tentatively filled 15 so 12 still needed: \n\n\n\n\nApril 21st – South Saunders Lake – A33 to A30 (JoAnne B. & Lee S.)\n\n\n\nApril 28th – Battle River – Duhamel Campground to RB Hill (Mary M.)\n\n\n\nMay 5th – Ministik – A87 to Horseshoe Lake (Helen W.)\n\n\n\nMay 12th – Kopp Lake (John S.)\n\n\n\nMay 19th –  Pipestone Creek – A49 to A51+ (JoAnne B. & Lee S.)\n\n\n\nMay 26th (Tentative) – North Miquelon A85 (Miquelon Park) to St. FX Lookout & Members Social (Anita P\, JoAnne B & Lee S)\n\n\n\nJune 2nd –  Pipestone Creek – A53 to A51 (John S.)\n\n\n\nJuly 14th – Stoney Creek (Elizabeth B.)\n\n\n\nJuly 21st – Fort Ethier (John S.)\n\n\n\nJuly 28th – Stoney Creek/Happy Valley (Irene M.)\n\n\n\nSeptember 1st (Tentative) – Battle River (Duhamel Campground to Fidler’s Monument) (Elizabeth B.)\n\n\n\nSeptember 8th – Ministik Berg/Nature Conservancy Trails (Delaney S.)\n\n\n\nSeptember 15th – Miquelon Provincial Park (Irene M.)\n\n\n\nOctober 20th – Battle River – Duhamel Campground to RB Hill (Mary M.)\n\n\n\nOctober 27th (Tentative) – Wanison Stopover & Members Social (Anita P\, JoAnne B & Lee S)\n\n\n\n\nNote:  \n\n\n\n\n‘Tentative’ means just confirming the date\n\n\n\nno hike Thanksgiving weekend\n\n\n\nbiweekly winter hikes for November to April 2025 do not require maintenance to can be addressed later in the season\n\n\n\nTrail Maintenance is expected to start about May 29th\n\nmaintenance for the April 21st to June 2nd hikes was done in the fall of 2023\n\n\n\nideally many of the August to October hikes will be able to go again in the spring of 2025 without maintenance\n\n\n\n\n\nHikes that have not been done recently that we should consider –\n\nNorthland Coal Lake to Mud Lake – 2 hikes (~1.1km overlap from A39 to ‘B’)\n\nCoal Lake Boat Launch (A40)  to ‘B’ past A39 – includes “Source of the Blackmud”\n\n\n\nCloverlawn (A39) to Mud Lake (past A38) – includes “Stan’s Bench”\n\n\n\n\n\nBattle River Schnee Hill – 2 hikes\n\nA60 to Schnee Hill – should to be later in the season as trail crosses a field that typically gets harvested in mid-September\n\n\n\nA57 to Schnee Hill\n\n\n\n\n\nHastings Lake – 2 hikes\n\nEast Hastings (A91) to Mottet Hill\n\n\n\nNorth Hastings (A97) to St Margarets Church – includes the “Allen Nature Walk”\n\n\n\n\n\nPartridge Hill/Ross Creek (A111 to A109)\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHike Planning \n\n\n\nTo help with our planning we will use a file of past hikes.
