SUMMARY:North Miquelon - Spilstead Access (A87) to A86
DESCRIPTION:This is a hike in the Miquelon & Ministic area that is great for bird watching. The trail goes the Currie pasture\, past the Sanctuary Estates subdivision and the Marsh Mitchell cabin. \nWe’ll meet at the trail head beside “A87” (Spilstead Access)\, ~0.2km south of the corner of Township Road 502/Range Road 210\, at 9:45 a.m.. SUMMARY:Pipestone Creek (A53 to hill before A51)
DESCRIPTION:We re-established this fabulous hike a couple of years after doing a reroute around a landslide. After a few seasons of trail maintenance we are in pretty good shape but we would still recommend bringing your poles. \nWe’ll meet at the trail head beside A53 (Twp Rd 471/RR 232) (near the Big Lake Sod Farm) at 9:45 a.m.. SUMMARY:Saunders Lake 1-way (A33 to A29)
DESCRIPTION:This hike will be an 8 km 1-way\, follows the shoreline\, giving views of waterbirds and red tailed hawks\, with a deer being a bonus. In April we will have hiked the Southend of the lake (A33 to A30) while in August it was the northland (A29 to A30+). \nAt the end of the hike\, we’ll stop at Rig Hand Distillery for lunch (plus craft beer and mocktails). Rig Hand is only 300 meters from the trail head at A29. You can checkout the Rig Hand menu here –> at Rig Hand – Kitchen. It will be busy around Rig Hand on Sunday as they are hosting the 3rd annual  “Western Canadian Chainsaw Carving Championships” this weekend (September 18th-21st). \nWe’ll stop for an extended tea break at A30. Those not planning to head on to Rig Hand for lunch can have their standard trail lunch at A30 & return to A30 on their own.  \nWe’ll meet at the trail head beside Rollyview Road at the end of Saunders Lake  at 9:45 a.m. (parking area across the highway). The hike will leave from ‘A33’ at 10:00\, after getting to A29 we will coordinate getting the drivers back to A33 to get their vehicles. SUMMARY:Members Social & Short Hike on the Miquelon Park Trails (Members Only)
DESCRIPTION:We are having the Members Social & hike at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park. The hike will be a shorter one along the Miquelon Park Trails (likely the ‘Holdsworth Trail’) before returning for the Members Social. The pictures from the members BBQ & where the hike was to Erickson’s Culvert – May 26th\, 2024. \nNote: This is a members only event for WTA Members & Volunteers\, if you plan on attending the Members Social portion of the day please – \n\nRSVP by Wednesday\, September 24 to Anita P. by e-mail anitapiebiak@gmail.com or phone/text 780-524-9817\nbring your own lawn chairs\n\nWe’ll meet at the parking lot of the Miquelon Provincial Park office at 9:45a.m. (park’s office parking lot)\, with the hike leaving at 10:00 and we should be back by 12:00 to 12:30..
