Wonders of Winter Woodlands

An impromptu hike was enjoyed by 8 hikers first with a loop on and near Big Lake where two younger moose eluded our cameras.

After lunch at the Lois Hole park shelter, we set out to the old growth spruce forest abundant with birds including an eagle that we startled when we were very close to it. Except for chickadees, blue jays, and a woodpecker, only we humans seemed to pose for picture taking.

Nature was a delightful sunny companion  as we wound our way through the trees. Definitely a hike to add to the winter menu.
