Saunders Lake A33 to A30 (see Hike Details)

May 6 @ 8:45 am - 3:00 pm MDT

This Saturday hike is to help launch our Meetup Group group.

Each Spring, the shore of Saunders Lake is the first part of the Waskahegan Trail to be free of snow. This hike, 9.8 km round trip, follows the shoreline, giving views of early waterbirds and red tailed hawks. Lots of sun too, so bring a hat. This Saturday hike is to kickoff our Meetup Group page and we may add more Saturday hikes to accommodate demand. We chose Saunders Lake because it’s not a long drive. And it will likely be snow free. The hike will leave from the parking area across the highway at Rollyview Road at the end of Saunders Lake at about 9:30 a.m. The pictures from July 6th, 2014.

In Edmonton we will meet at the Century Park ‘Park & Ride’ (free lot) & carpool (leaving at 9 a.m.). Participants may proceed there directly on their own, but should check the website prior to departure in case of a change (e.g., weather forecast, trail conditions).

If you are new to WTA hikes, then you should visit the Guided Hikes webpage for essential information. For further information specific to this hike, refer to The Waskahegan Trail Guide Book, pages 24-25, or contact the Hike Leader , Stella C..
