Hike: Devon Trails
October 9, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm MDT
Due to a conflict in schedules, the ‘Devon Trails’ hike is now on October 9th (rather than the 16th) & the ‘Gwynne and Chickadee Trail’ hike is now scheduled for October 16th (rather than the 9th).
This week’s outing makes good use of the Devon trails (Page 2) along the south side of the North Saskatchewan River. The trails climb up and down, in and out of the river valley, making for a more challenging hike than we might be used to on other city trails. The hike will be about 9.5 km long, leaving from the parking lot at Voyager Park (boat launch lot at the bottom of the hill on Saskatchewan Avenue) at about 9:30 a.m.
In Edmonton we will meet at the northwest corner of the Real Canadian Superstore parking lot on Calgary Trail & carpool (leaving promptly at 9 a.m.). Participants may instead meet up at the Voyager Park trailhead. In either case, hikers should check this webpage prior to departure in case of a last-minute cancellation due to extreme weather or poor trail conditions.
If you are new to WTA hikes, then you should visit this webpage for essential information. For further information specific to this hike, consult the Waskahegan Trail Guide Book (page 118) or contact the Hike Leaders, JoAnne B. & Lee S. , at 780-487-0645.
